Slot Pompeii

Game overview

Pompeii is an Aristocrat slot set in the Roman city that was buried by Mount Vesuvius. The reels show Roman imagery such as a helmet, a sword and shield, two snakes and a chariot, and a voiceover of the famous line about coming, seeing and conquering plays on wins. It uses Aristocrat's Reel Power format, so there are no paylines to pick. The game is best known for its free spins, where multiplying volcano wilds can turn small hits into large ones.

Rules and how wins are paid

The grid has five reels and three rows, and Reel Power gives 243 ways to win. A win needs matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel, in any row position. All 243 ways are always active, so you only choose your stake.

Symbols

The higher paying symbols are the two snakes, the Roman helmet, the sword and shield and the chariot. The card ranks A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 make up the lower pays. The gold coin is the scatter, and Mount Vesuvius, shown as an erupting volcano, is the wild.

Special features

Reel Power

Instead of lines, every combination across the five reels counts. This means one symbol showing more than once on a reel can multiply the number of winning ways.

Volcano wilds

The volcano lands on reels 2 and 4. It substitutes for regular symbols, and during the free spins it also adds a multiplier to the wins it helps create.

Free spins

Gold coin scatters trigger the bonus, with the award based on the number you land:

• 3 coins: 10 free spins
• 4 coins: 15 free spins
• 5 coins: 20 free spins

In the free spins, a win that uses the wild on reel 2 is tripled and a win that uses the wild on reel 4 is multiplied by five. If both wilds are part of the same win, the multipliers combine for 15x. The round can be retriggered by landing more scatters.

Bet settings, bonus buy and RTP

There is no bonus buy. The RTP is listed at 95.45 percent. Casinos may run lower RTP versions, so check the help screen in the game you play.

How to play, step by step

1. Set your total stake; all 243 ways are always in play.
2. Spin and look for matching symbols from left to right.
3. Land three or more gold coins to win 10, 15 or 20 free spins.
4. Hope for volcano wilds on reels 2 and 4 during the bonus.
5. Collect your total when the round ends.

Tips before you play

Most of the value in Pompeii is concentrated in the free spins and the 15x combined multiplier, so the base game can feel slow. Pick a stake that lets you ride out dry periods, set a budget first, and stop when it is gone.
