How to play Moon Festival
Moon Festival is a 50-line Aristocrat slot themed on the Chinese moon festival. The moon is wild and three lantern scatters award 10 free games, in which every wild that lands stays in place until the feature ends. Wins can be gambled on a card colour or suit.
Game overview
Moon Festival is an Aristocrat slot that celebrates the Chinese moon festival. The reels feature a woman in traditional dress, a rabbit, a lotus flower, a coin and a musical instrument, and the music and artwork lean on the imagery of the celebration. It is not a complicated game. The draw is a free games round with sticky wilds, which is a feature Aristocrat has used in several of its classics.
Rules and how wins are paid
There are five reels and 50 paylines. You choose a stake, and wins pay for matching symbols on a line starting from the left. With 50 lines, small wins appear quite often, and the big moments come from wilds filling several positions at once.
Symbols
The higher paying symbols are the woman, the rabbit, the lotus, the coin and the musical instrument. A, K, Q and J sit in the middle of the paytable, with 10 and 9 at the bottom. The moon is the wild and the lantern is the scatter.
Special features
Moon wild
The moon substitutes for every symbol except the scatter, helping to complete line wins in both the base game and the bonus.
Gamble
After a win you can choose to gamble it. Guessing the colour of a card doubles the amount, while guessing the suit multiplies it by four. You can gamble several times in a row, but one wrong guess loses everything at stake.
Free games
Three lantern scatters start 10 free games. In this round any moon wild that lands is held in the same position for the remaining free games. Every new wild adds to the ones already there, so the chance of multi-line wins rises as the bonus goes on. The feature can be retriggered.
Bet settings, bonus buy and RTP
There is no bonus buy. The RTP is listed at 94.76 percent, which is below the average for current online slots. Casinos may run lower RTP versions, so check the help screen where you play. The game does not use multipliers, so the sticky wilds are the main source of larger wins.
How to play, step by step
- Set your stake for the 50 lines.
- Spin and use the moon wilds to complete line wins.
- Land three lantern scatters to start 10 free games.
- Let the sticky wilds build up through the round.
- Decide whether to keep a win or try the gamble screen.
Tips before you play
Moon Festival is a relaxed game with modest features and a below average RTP, so it suits short, casual sessions. Decide on a budget before you begin, avoid chasing losses, and treat the gamble button with care.
Features
RTP is the theoretical long-term return published by the game provider. Casinos can run lower-RTP versions of the same game, so check the info screen in the game before you play. Max win is a multiple of your bet.
